L2 Powder Fire Extinguishers
Overview
L2 Powder Fire Extinguishers are used on Class D flammable metal fires and unlike M28, it also fights lithium fires. Combustible metal fires can reach temperatures of up to 4700°C and standard extinguishing agents cannot cope with these kinds of temperatures so specialist powders were created to combat Class D fires. The specialist L2 powder is gently applied to the source of the fire with a low velocity applicator lance. The powder melts into a semi fluid crust on the surface which prevents oxygen from fueling the fire while also drawing heat away from the metal. L2 powder fire extinguishers are suitable for laboratories and engineering workshops.
